Clint Eastwood, a Hollywood movie industry veteran and California politician is probably best known for his role as Dirty Harry the loose cannon San Francisco cop. Lesser known is the fact that he was the mayor of the small city Carmel By The Sea, CA from 1986 to 1988 or that he directed almost three dozen movies during his lifetime. His latest work as a director is called Invictus (latin for unconquered), in which he tells the true story of how Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) joined forces with South Africa's rugby team captain Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon) in an effort to promote unity among his fellow countrymen. This movie is a great tribute to Nelson Mandela and the unconquerable spirit of the rugby game, and it shows Mandela's effectiveness as a visionary political leader as he rallies South Africa's underdog rugby team to make an unlikely run for the 1995 World Cup Championship game.
